No software to install

You have two simple and secure ways to transfer and manage your files on Ewedrive - WebDAV (web folders as it's known in Windows) and our unique web based file manager.

WebDAV allows you to create, in effect, a folder on your PC that looks local but actually connects to your remote Ewedrive space. Once set up, simply drag and drop files between Ewedrive and your computer. What's more, because it's natively supported in Windows, Apple and Linux computers there's no software to install and a breeze to set up.

Then there's our browser based file manager which as well as offering you the equivalent drag and drop functionality of WebDAV also gives you comprehensive file management from anywhere including advanced file sharing and Internet file download capabilities. NB: Many other backup providers require you to install proprietary software in order to use their service and many also charge extra to use their software on more than one PC at a time. This obviously not only adds to the overall cost but makes online file storage far less flexible than a service like Ewedrive.

No file size limits

We have no policy file size limits on Ewedrive.

But do be aware that you could be limited by technical limitations that may come about in various ways, including your file transfer method and OS. It's a case of trying a large upload and letting us know of any problems and we'll do our best to help.

All transfers secured end-to-end over SSL

Whether you move files around using the drag and drop features of WebDAV or our browser based file manager your traffic is secured end-to-end to the same strength as, if not better than, most on-line banks.

So forget others, not even your own ISP can snoop on your uploads/downloads between Ewedrive and your computer.

Unrestricted uploads/downloads and no extra charges

You'll find that many backup providers have hard and fast policies to restrict or even charge for data transfer without any flexibility. Or they simply apply bandwidth throttling and limit the speed at which your can push and pull your data, which at the very least could prove frustrating when you trying to recover important stuff.

We don't do any of that. Our no nonsense approach extends to giving you access to your data at the best possible speed at any given moment in time, depending of course on the speed of your own Internet connection.

Private and Public sharing

Through your web based file manager you can mark files and folders for sharing privately with other select Ewedrive users or the entire Ewedrive community.

For example, rather than emailing large attachments you can simply upload and share files with particular individuals or groups and let them access those files as and when they want. They could then re-share those files with you, and others, as necessary.

Internet file download manager

You can now download files from online file sharing services direct to your remote Ewedrive disk space, securely and anonymously using only your web browser and without using your own Internet connection or drive space.

What's more archived files (password protected or not) can be unRARed and unZiped on-the-fly too enabling you to decompress and stream audio and video to a media player, wherever and whenever, without ever needing to download to a local computer.

Not only is the remote download manager a useful and unique aspect to Ewedrive but could also save you money, particularly if your Broadband provider charges you for bandwidth usage or data transfer.

Protection of your data

Our Storage Area Network (SAN) comprises a series of servers in a cluster which replicates your data not only across multiple disks on one server but across multiple servers. Every time you upload a file to your storage space it is duplicated in real-time across these storage servers for your increased peace of mind and optimum resilience.

And the investment doesn't stop at our hardware infrastructure either. Your data doesn't sit in some back street office but rather we've built our storage platform at the UK's premier carrier neutral data centre with security and monitoring second to none plus divergent and scalable Tier 1 Internet connectivity.

Encrypt and store files your way

When it comes to on-line file storage we know that trust is everything and we don't expect you'll trust us overnight.

There is a lot of easy to use freeware available (e.g. 7zip, AxCrypt, Kryptel) that will enable you to encode your data using powerful 256bit AES encryption and protected by your own password. Indeed software such as Backup Chunker offers an easy way to encrypt your files as well as compress and transfer on-the-fly.

All the while safely knowing that if someone wanted to see your data the only way they could do that was to somehow get hold of your password or spend their entire lifetime (and more) trying to crack it.

We have every reason to take your data as seriously as you do, otherwise we wouldn't be around very long. So even if you choose not to encrypt your data our storage and file transfer systems are purposefully designed to keep it as safe as possible.

Optional software to encrypt and automate transfers

If you're a Windows user you can get a piece of software from us called Backup Chunker that's been tailored to work with Ewedrive.

We've found Backup Chunker to work very well particularly as it gives you an effortless way to transfer and synchronise your files as well as enabling file compression and encryption as standard, so you not only need to buy less space on Ewedrive but also secure your data with extremely strong AES encryption in a way that only YOU control.

And remember this is not software with restricted functionality nor is it limited to working only with Ewedrive and you can use it for a variety of backup scenarios including backing up to CD/DVD and USB key as well as any other provider offering ftp or WebDAV access.
